Digital Literacy Certification IC3

Kittery Adult Education is offering an integrated educational training program where participants earn the IC3 Digital Literacy Credential. The program uses a comprehensive curriculum and experienced instructors to develop:
- Occupational skills (computer literacy)
- Adult Education skills (vocabulary, writing, communication, and speaking and listening)
Once students pass all three IC3 computer exams; Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications and Living Online, they will be better prepared to work in an environment using technology and be ready for company specific training.

Math for Trades

There is a critical shortage of professional trades people. If you’re interested in applying for an apprenticeship program or starting a college program in the trades and would like to improve your math skills, consider this course!
Review decimals, fractions, percentages, unit conversions, and practical algebra and geometry.
This would also be an excellent course for people in any field to brush up on fundamentals. It's a great preparation for exams like the Accuplacer.
Online/live/face to face 6:00pm-7:30pm Monday with additional individual instruction as needed.

CompTIA A+ Academy

Already Tech savvy? Ready for a challenge? Do you want to start a career in the IT field?
This course builds knowledge and skill development in digital literacy and IT support: including hardware and software troubleshooting, operating systems, and communication and procedure. Participants earn two industry certifications: IC3® & CompTIA® A+. You will be prepared for employment as a computer user support specialist/help desk technician.
To qualify for the FREE program, you must be:
A resident of Maine
Not enrolled in High School
Unemployed or underemployed
Authorized to work in the U.S.
Class schedule March 9, 2021- June 10, 2021, Tuesday and Thursday 5:00pm-8:00pm and Wednesday 5:00pm-6:00pm. Contact us to complete the required orientation and assessments before the class.
Drone Flying Skills

Hands on flying - starting with opening the box to gaining confidence in flying without losing the drone, shattering a vase of flowers, or frightening the cat.
This is a 3 week, in-person, all ages class, which will be held in the cafe of Marshwood High School. Bring your own drone.
Commercial Remote Pilot Certification

Prepare for commercial remote pilot certification test (Part 107). Tom will teach students who want to earn income as a drone pilot to pass an FAA aeronautical knowledge test. This 6 week online course comes with a study guide. Participants must be at least 15 years old.
Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Career Workshop Session 1
with Portsmouth Naval Shipyard
Staff from Human Resources, Workforce Development at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard will guide you through the USA Jobs website, discuss apprenticeship programs, and address the fundamentals of a federal resume. Please bring your resume if you would like individual feedback. Class will meet at Kittery Adult Education, with an option to attend virtually.

Chemistry for College and Career Prep with Lab

This 7 week course will dive into the most important concepts in chemistry needed to succeed in a college chemistry classroom. Everything from particle diagrams to stoichiometry will be covered as students gradually develop a particulate model of how matter behaves by observing and interpreting experimental evidence. The course is designed to make learning chemistry easy and offers students individualized instruction, a variety of learning mediums, simplified concepts and even virtual labs all in a remote setting. Start building the foundation you need to enter medical and science majors with confidence and tools to succeed. Free to Adult Education HiSet or Diploma Students. After completeing this course drinking water and water treatment operators will receive 18 training contact hours approved by the state of Maine.
Behavioral Health Certification
with Woodfords Services
Children’s Behavioral Health Services are vital to Maine’s children with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health Disorders and their families. And the need in our area is great! We are excited to connect our adult education community with this wonderful ONLINE training program. The online training will equip you to successfully help children who are currently on a waitlist for services. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies. The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace.
You will complete 12 online modules then 3, 4-hour live sessions, including the new ethics and boundaries training. Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online blood borne pathogen training and virtual First Aid & CPR training if you do not already possess those certifications. The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours. Any individual who will be 18 years of age or older upon completion of the course may register.
The Marshwood and Kittery Adult Education staff can advise and support students on their training journey and after during the job search process. We can assist with tutoring, technology training, or with lending a device to take the class online.
