Environmental Science

This class is free for Marshwood Adult Education Diploma students. Throughout this course students will learn about the earth and our impact on our environment. The course will focus on project based learning with many opportunities for students to choose their learning paths. After completing this course students will gain a wide breadth of knowledge of the earth's systems, human impact on the environment as well as taking a look at modern issues of misinformation and political influence.

If you didn't finish high school, you know that your choices are limited. Even with talent and drive, the lack of a high school diploma can limit your opportunities. Prepare to take you official HiSET® exams and earn your high school equivalency credential. In this class you will work in small groups and individuallyto prepare for each of the 5 exams: reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.

This is a free class for registered Marshwood Adult Education Diploma Students. This class will focus on racism and antiracism in America. We will be discussing, reading about, and writing about issues of race in our history and in our current society. Our primary text will be Stamped, by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi.

Kittery Adult Education is offering an integrated educational training program where participants earn the IC3 Digital Literacy Credential.  The program uses a comprehensive curriculum and experienced instructors to develop:   

  • Occupational skills (computer literacy)      
  • Adult Education skills (vocabulary, writing, communication, and speaking and listening)

Once students pass all three IC3 computer exams; Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications and Living Online, they will be better prepared to work in an environment using technology and be ready for company specific training.

There is a critical shortage of professional trades people. If you’re interested in applying for an apprenticeship program or starting a college program in the trades and would like to improve your math skills, consider this course! 

Review decimals, fractions, percentages, unit conversions, and practical algebra and geometry. 

This would also be an excellent course for people in any field to brush up on fundamentals. It's a great preparation for exams like the Accuplacer. 

Online/live/face to face 6:00pm-7:30pm Monday with additional individual instruction as needed.

CompTIA A+ Academy

Already Tech savvy? Ready for a challenge? Do you want to start a career in the IT field?

This course builds knowledge and skill development in digital literacy and IT support: including hardware and software troubleshooting, operating systems, and communication and procedure. Participants earn two industry certifications: IC3® & CompTIA® A+. You will be prepared for employment as a computer user support specialist/help desk technician.

To qualify for the FREE program, you must be:

A resident of Maine

Ages 17-29 

Not enrolled in High School 

Unemployed or underemployed

Authorized to work in the U.S. 

Class schedule March 9, 2021- June 10, 2021, Tuesday and Thursday 5:00pm-8:00pm and Wednesday 5:00pm-6:00pm. Contact us to complete the required orientation and assessments before the class.

Drone Flying Skills

Hands on flying - starting with opening the box to gaining confidence in flying without losing the drone, shattering a vase of flowers, or frightening the cat.

This is a 3 week, in-person, all ages class, which will be held in the cafe of Marshwood High School. Bring your own drone.
